A Necessary Evil - Jewelry Photography

My new photography set up - totally different from my other pictures - no props, just the jewelry on a black background. I read somewhere about using a piece of glass on top of the black cloth - so I tried it. I made my own set up using a cardboard box, an old black ultrasuede shirt, an old broken piece of glass, a tripod and my camera. Here's the pics that I think might have merit.......

As always, it's a work in progress - any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated!!

I like the pictures but have to click on them and make them larger to actually see the work. Could you try them without the glass? The reflection is what I think is making them hard to see. I love how they look on the black cloth.

oooooooooooooo purtyyyyyyyyyyy! This batch is gorgeous, m'dear. The work and the photography. I love the glass and gentle reflections, not as intense as a mirror. The black showing slight variation/gently rolling hills is lovely.
The older photos are very nice, these shout Gallery.
Very nice!

the pics look really classy and proffesional, i wasnt sure about the glass though, i think the reflections are a little distracting but the black is great for showing off vibrant colours.

I love looking at your pictures. Have been trying to photograph my jewelry, but haven't had as much success as you. Thoroughly enjoy reading your blog.
